Germans love Spain! Next to people from Great Britain and France, Germany is among the top three countries, whose citizens like to visit Spain during their vacation. Besides a lot of fascinating Spain tourist attractions, the country is especially famous for its beautiful beaches. Which are the top places in Spain which Germans like to visit?
Mallorca : Majorca is also called the “Germans most favourite island”. The most visited island in Europe is especially famous amongst party holidaymakers. Some places such as El Arenal or Santa Ponsa are considered as typical German tourist destinations in Spain with a lot of German bars and German speaking staff in hotels and restaurants.
Ibiza: Most tourists on Ibiza are from Great Britain. Nevertheless, next to people from Spain and Italy, Germans are amongst the top four amongst the holidaymakers on Ibiza. The peak of tourism on the island is in August.
Menorca: Menorca is also called “the smaller one”, which means the smaller island compared to Mallorca. Same as Mallorca, Menorca offers a lot of beaches and bathing bays. A famous speciality is called Queso Mahón, a cheese made out of cow milk.
Costa Brava: Costa Brava is considered as one of the most beautiful areas in Spain. Trademark of the wild coast is the rough, jagged rock landscape such as the nickname “brava” ( = wild) lets people assume.
Barcelona: Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia. It’s the third most often visited city in Europe.
Tenerife: Around 800.000 German tourists visit Tenerife every year. The largest of the Canary Islands has two German radio channels and around 3 newspapers in German language.
Gran Canaria: Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands. Same as Tenerife, Gran Canaria is especially popular amongst German tourists during the winter months. Due to the mild weather throughout the whole year, Gran Canaria is also called the “island of eternal spring”. Next to Germans, most tourists come from Great Britain, Austria, Switzerand and Scandinavian countries.
Fuerteventura: Fuerteventura is the second largest island of the Canary Islands. Other than the rest of the destinations of the Canary Islands, most tourist visit Fuerteventura for beach holidays. Many of them also like to stay just in their hotels.
